Resident Feedback Form on Speed Limit Reduction

NOTE: The deadline for residential feedback using this form has been extended to June 1st, 2023.

The Freeville Board of Trustees is seeking resident feedback on a proposal to reduce the speed limit on certain village streets from 30 MPH to 25 MPH.

A recent state law change allows the village to post a limit at 25 MPH rather than 30 MPH on village roads. This state law change does not allow the village to adjust the speed limit on state roads. Therefore, state route 38 (through the entire village), and state route 366 (from the western village border to the 4 way stop) could not be changed by the village.

This request is a general response to the number one complaint the BOT receives – speed of vehicles in the village. No specific village streets have been discussed – but areas with children playing, streets used as shortcuts, areas where we frequently get residential complaints, public safety concerns, and feedback from this form would all be considered if moving forward.

One final note – we are seeking input from Village of Freeville residents only. If you do not live in the one square mile that constitutes the municipality of Freeville (as outlined below) please do not complete this form.
