When it was erected in 1936, the school was recognized for its outstanding design (the architect was Carl W. Clark of Cortland). The central hallway is decorated with a mural of local life painted in 1948 for the village’s sesquicentennial. The artists were students from Freeville Elementary and George Junior Republic, working under the guidance of teacher Fred Klotz, Jr.

The church organizes the annual community Harvest Festival. It also holds several chicken barbeques per year, and it serves Thanksgiving dinner. Go to the History section for information about the church’s past.
