Freeville’s government consists of an elected Mayor and four other elected Trustees. They are responsible for village operations, the village budget, and the general care and welfare of the village.

Planning Board
Meets the third Tuesday of the month at 7:30 PM at the village hall
Members of the planning board are volunteers appointed by the mayor and approved by the other trustees. The Planning Board has a vital advisory role. It studies, reports on, and makes recommendations about issues given to it by the Board of Trustees. Also the Planning Board does site-plan reviews. It is appointed “to review and approve, approve with modifications or disapprove site plans ….” (NYS Planning and Zoning Document, Section 7-725-a.2.a.)

Zoning Board of Appeals
Meets as needed on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7:30 PM at the village hall
The Zoning Board is a volunteer group whose members are appointed by the mayor and approved by the other trustees. The group hears appeals for variances from (exceptions to) the village zoning laws.
