• Freeville has a leash law, and dogs must be on a leash when not on their owners’ property. Any dog likely to wander from home even when its owners are nearby should be kept on a lead. Also dogs should not be let out to run free at night.
  • The street cannot be used as a storage place for such things as hitch trailers, boats, unlicensed cars,  etc.
  • Please be sure to clear sidewalks within 24 hours of a snowfall.
  • To make the job of the snowplows as easy as possible, cars should not be parked on the street between 12:01 AM and 7:00 AM, from November 1 to April 30.
  • “Disposable” doesn’t necessarily mean “flushable”! Please do not flush inappropriate items down the toilet! The village has spent considerable money to remove–repeatedly–such things as diapers and Swiffer mopheads from incapacitated sewer pumps at some of our pump stations.

  • Before starting new construction of any size within the village limits, residents should check with our Code Enforcement Officer about building codes, as well as about required documentation. Write to freevillecodeofficer@frontiernet.net or call 844-8301.  People are welcome to stop by the village hall and look through its copies of Village and State laws.

  • Before starting renovations or additions to existing structures within the village limits, check with our Code Enforcement Officer or Dan Sykes, the chairperson of the Zoning Board of Appeals, to see whether a variance is required. Dan can be reached by phone at 888-436-8608.
